A Federal Judge has shut down an operation that allegedly posed as the US Government and duped consumers into paying fees ranging from $200 to $2500 to process their cases. The court froze the defendants' assets and has ordered to repay its victims. Some of the mimic websites which depicted American eagles, the US flag and Statute of Liberty were www.uscis-ins.us and www.usgovermentthehelpline.com. The site directed consumers to call a toll-free numbers which were answered by persons identifying as "Immigration Officer" or "agent".
