DOL (Department of Labor) issued an update on the processing dates on Perm cases. They are currently working on cases filed in December 2008. If your case has been filed more than one year ago and there has not been an audit, your immigration attorney can send an inquiry on your case to DOL.
One of our recent Citizenship/naturalization application with more than 6 months absence from US was approved. We had provided plenty of documentation of his ties to US to show that he had not abandoned his continued residence in US while temporarily outside US.

I had a complicated Immigration case with a history of over 20 years. I got married in 1986 with a US Citizen and entered with my Immigrant Visa in 1987. However, before I removed conditions on my green card on my Immigrant status we were separated. I jointly filed the I-751 application but did not pursue it as my ex wife did not go to the interview. I went to an Immigration Attorney couple of years later after remarrying. He filed a new Adjustment of status application for me which was denied. After that I lost trust in immigration process and Immigration lawyers until I met Sunita Kapoor. She understood my case and she filed I-751 application to remove conditions on my green card with the late filing memo. With many other complications present on my case and the delay of over 20 years of filing I-751, I was surprised that I received my permanent Green Card with the date resident since 1987 which makes me eligible for Citizenship right away. This was Unbelievable miracle for me. I cannot describe how happy I am.
